Volunteer Registration Steps

Follow these steps to complete your registration. We're here to help as needed!

Start Here

Sign in to your myscouts.ca account and click the Register as Volunteer button.

Submit References

Submit five references. Scouts Canada will contact at least three of the references and record the information received.

Obtain a Police Records Check

Obtain a Police Records Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search and submit the completed police record check online on this page. This can take several weeks so it's best to start this process early on. Be sure to keep the receipt.

Accept the Code of Conduct

When prompted, review and accept Scouts Canada's Code of Conduct.

Complete Online Training

This takes a few hours to complete online. From your myscouts.ca account look for the David Huestis Learning Centre link in the sidebar to access two training modules:

1) Scouting Fundamentals: Core training module covering the methods, safety guidelines, and operations of the Scouting program.

2) Respect in Sport: Online safety and abuse-prevention training. There is a small fee for this module - keep the receipt!

Interview

We'll arrange an interview once the above are completed to ask a few screening questions and get to know each other.

Uniform

Time to order your red shirt! The adult Scouter uniform is available from the Scout Shop. Again, be sure to keep the receipt.

Final Approvals

After a successful interview the Group Commissioner and a representative from the Central Escarpment Council will approve your application. No action needed on your part.

Reimbursement for Expenses

Hand over a hard copy of all receipts and we'll reimburse you for costs associated with your application.

Investiture, Neckers and Crests

You'll be officially welcome to your section (Beavers, Cubs, etc.) during a short, formal investiture ceremony which is typically held twice a year in the fall in the in the spring. At this time you'll receive your necker of the colours of 13th Burlington as well a council and group crest to be worn on your uniform.

Wood Badge I.

Within one year of registering as a volunteer you need to complete the Wood Badge I training module, which is an additional, mandatory training module for new Scouters. You can do this any time within a year of becoming a Scouter. Once completed, you'll be awarded the Wood Badge I. woggle.
